My Writing Journey

My love of reading began in 2nd grade.  My teacher Miss Brooks challenged our class to read 10 books out loud to our parents and receive a free Little Golden Book.  I accepted the challenge! I loved the books she gave me and the message she wrote to me in each one.  As I got older, I loved writing book reports! I began writing poems about love in the 6th grade when I discovered “boys”.

 

Through the years, friends and family members have given me journals, written me poems and given me inspirational books for birthdays and Christmas. Mr. Gene gave me a pink Bible one year with a note encouraging me to spend time studying God’s Word.  

 

In college I continued writing and submitted several papers including The Ideal Partner about Mr. Gene during my senior year at the University of West Florida. He and I met on the tennis court at a tournament held at the local junior college.  He says the little white skirt is what grabbed his attention! We married on October 14, 1989, and  we have been serving up love for one another and others ever since.
